We engaged PS Computer services to completely refresh our IT infrastructure. The key point for us was that they took the time to truly listen to our requirements and craft a bespoke system that really exceeded our expectations. The system has been flawless in operation and reduced the time we spend on IT dramatically, allowing us to concentrate on our business instead. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.

An SME client at a local technology park was experiencing growing pains with their IT infrastructure. The infrastructure had grown organically with the addition of Linux servers as required to share files, run a CRM application, operate a VPN for remote workers, and host their code repository. They wanted to structure and formalise the setup, keeping everything in-house with minimal cloud services, and keep ongoing costs very low. Read more about our solution.
Our client, a Microsoft Gold Partner based in the Thames Valley, planned to move into larger premises to accommodate their current and future growth plans. Despite having the skills and knowledge internally to plan and implement a first class, high spec, fully scalable network in the new office, work commitments were preventing them from spending the necessary time to facilitate this. Read more about our solution.
With only two non-dedicated IT staff members, our SME client wanted to reduce their time spent maintaining their own IT infrastructure and spend more time on their business, while still increasing their IT flexibility and speed of IT delivery. We moved their servers to a more secure, easily managed and more flexible public cloud infrastructure platform. We provide ongoing monitoring and support, and have implemented a more robust disaster recovery solution for remaining on-site IT. By delivering a solution based on best-of-breed public cloud infrastructure, this SME client achieved corporate grade IT features, resiliency and uptime, at SME prices with a simple pay-as-you-go monthly bill and no lengthy contractual tie-ins.
Following a competitive tender process, P.S. Computer Services was awarded the contract to build & manage a 10 man, 24x7x365 HPUX remote support desk for an Enterprise client in the North of England. We supported remote ServiceGuard clusters running patient applications at numerous trust hospitals. In addition to remote and, where necessary, on-site support we were responsible for patching, developing system improvements and disk expansions. Our remit also covered provision of HP Superdome support running a group of applications under VPars and VMguest virtual partitions. RAC clusters housed Oracle databases and storage was a mixture of EVA and XP disk arrays and Brocade SAN switches.
PS Computer Services allocated a full time Service Delivery Manager on an award winning (UKIT Awards 2014) Data Centre migration project at no cost to this enterprise client. Our SDM acts as a central point of contact for all resource requests, staffing issues and general queries from all sides. She has been supplied as a client-badged resource on-site throughout the engagement, supporting the Client Principal and carrying out tasks including conducting on-boarding and training in the client’s processes and procedures, along with specific training where required. In addition to the original 16 Project Managers required by the project, our SDM has identified additional Project Management work, as well as requirements for Architects, Testers and Discoverers. In addition to her day-to-day tasks, the SDM also works to align the PMs’ end dates to the project delivery dates, allowing her to identify potential risks to the Programme Managers. We are currently rolling out a client-branded timesheet portal to further the brand presence in the account.
Our client, the equivalent of Rightmove in the UK, required an ambitious and dynamic new website to be developed from scratch. This included design of all functionality, creation of the codebase, hosting and ongoing maintenance and updating of the site.

Throughout our association PS have been very supportive of our business and have always gone the extra mile ensuring only quality and relevant candidates are put forward. The on boarding of successful recruits has always been smooth as have the all the associated administrative processes. I received a cold call from Oliver at PS Computer Services, and although I don’t normally take agency calls his initial approach stood out and I took the call. He arranged to come and see me the next day and quickly managed to understand Pulsar's needs. We were looking for a new head of IT Services and the service that followed, and the quality of the CVs presented, meant we had put an offer out within the month. In summary a professional approach, representing professionals.
I had the pleasure of dealing with the team at PS Computer Services whilst searching for a new IT support position. I found the entire team to be friendly and welcoming to any calls & discussions I felt may be needed whilst looking for work. They were very proactive initially holding a 'pre-interview' which was a discussion to make sure we were both on the same page when it came to where and what to apply for, to not waste my own time going for interviews I wouldn't be suitable for. Following the pre-interview I was put forward for an interview with a company I wished to apply for. This went very well and following technical tests and second interviews, which the PS Computers team kept me well informed on, I was offered a higher position than that which I had originally applied for! Needless to say I am very thankful to the whole team at PS Computer Services and would recommend them to anyone looking for work or seeking that new employee!
I started looking for an IT job last year and had no luck despite a few interviews. When PS called me and offered a potential job within the software development industry I couldn't believe it! I had couple of telephone interviews with PS, which led to face to face interview with MD of the employer. I'm very happy with how PS took me through the whole hiring process and would definitely recommend them! Very happy and thank you PS.
P.S. Computer Services works with SMEs and Enterprise clients and will source single IT staff vacancies, or multiple roles on short & long term duration contracts. We have supplied IT contractors to the University of Manchester, a member of the elite Russell Group of UK universities. In 2010, following an extensive review of their approved suppliers, we were awarded an opportunity to work with the University of Manchester. Our first objective was to meet and introduce ourselves to the various areas of the operation who had historically needed to engage flexible resources. We arranged several supplier events where we set out to better understand what the most important issues were to the respective departments. By a process of attending many meetings and events we began to impress upon new clients the key differentials that set P.S. apart from our competitors, including our company values and behaviours that ensure that we truly do put our clients at the centre of our service offerings. From a standing start, where no one within the organisation knew who we were, the University is now one of our largest customers, where over 10 different departments rely on P.S. to deliver a diverse range of skilled IT resources. The University is delighted that we are achieving all of their main goals, especially in engaging with quality resources in a professional and timely manner and delivering them competitively and consistently within agreed guidelines. Not only are they gaining greater control over their supplier list, but they are benefitting from a higher quality of service.
P.S. Computer Services was appointed as a preferred supplier of contract staff to the HP organisation in 1989, our second year of trading, and we are extremely proud to say we are the only UK supplier to have retained that status ever since. This has entailed rebidding usually every two years, and each time being successful due to our service levels, competitive pricing and our overall reputation throughout the organisation. Because of the diverse nature of HP's own business, we have provided contract staff with technical skills including Application Packagers, Testers, Software development, Infrastructure design & support, Programme and Project Managers and many more. These have been a combination of individual placements, complete teams, and in some cases providing a completely outsourced managed service with SLAs and KPIs to deliver.
From the moment I registered with P.S. I was immediately impressed with their set up. We had a Skype conversation to understand what my key skills were, what I was looking for and importantly what I wasn’t looking for. The team were able to quickly tailor roles of interest for me and when they identified a contract for me, they kept in touch all the way with friendly updates and feedback, they handled the job offer with effective speed and through the whole commercial process they were friendly and made great use of modern technology. Even now, several months into the contract, they make regular contact to check all is well with me and with the work I am doing. Their back office team are efficient and very professional, I don’t feel like I am just another revenue number for them and abandoned once into the contract like I have seen and felt in other contracts. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough to any professional contractor looking for that special agency.
Thanks to PS Computer Services I have secured 3 separate contracts totalling almost 5 years in the last 8 and can always count on the personal touches as well as reassuring integrity when dealing with any member of the team. A great company to work with and definitely a cut above the rest
