Our client, a Microsoft Gold Partner based in the Thames Valley, planned to move into larger premises to accommodate their current and future growth plans. Despite having the skills and knowledge internally to plan and implement a first class, high spec, fully scalable network in the new office, work commitments were preventing them from spending the necessary time to facilitate this.
P.S. Computer Services offered to take over responsibility for achieving this, freeing up the client’s staff to manage their day to day business activities.
We conducted site visits, designed a high level network plan, liaised with the leased line provider, produced a timeline and offered a fall-back plan should the leased line provider encounter any challenges bringing the line from the road into the building.
Our solution for the wireless network included a totally flexible environment for existing and future desk layouts, and accommodated a large number of remote workers. The solution provided a data cabinet, a Meraki MX series firewall, a Power over Ethernet switch, and cabling through the ceiling void to multiple enterprise grade ceiling-mounted Cisco Meraki WiFi access points, centrally and remotely managed to provide robust connectivity for all workers. The Meraki management portal allows usage monitoring and can identify WiFi usage hot spots and rogue access points.
We proposed two flexible options, one to simply set up the new network environment, and the second to take over ongoing management including support and fixes, configuration request changes, software updates, security monitoring and ongoing hardware replacement. Our flexible approach to providing quotations allows technical companies the choice of bringing some maintenance activities in-house to save money, or outsourcing to P.S. Computer Services where they are too busy or do not have the required technical staff.
Our value-add included recommending the best technical solution to achieve reliability, cost effectiveness and security. We identified all the hardware to be used, purchased, shipped, configured and installed it. We also handled all discussions with the leased line provider and the office fitters, coordinating our work around their installation dates. Each aspect of the work was conducted well inside the client's planned move date, and on budget.
